The Mistbound Citadel (Cross-Hatch Edition) - Wood

A Union of Engineering and Fantasy

"The Mistbound Citadel" is a tribute to the structures we build—both in stone and in our dreams. This castle (inspired by the legendary Neuschwanstein) is a feat of engineering, but it was built by a king who wanted to live inside a fairytale.

This piece appeals directly to my toolmaker side. I sketched the turrets and spires with precise, architectural cross-hatching, treating the image like a technical blueprint of a dream. But to keep it from feeling too rigid, I used my stylist’s touch to shroud the base in mist and mountains, softening the foundation so the castle appears to be floating. It represents the idea that every great reality starts with a dream.

Without the distraction of colour, the focus shifts entirely to the intricate ink work—thousands of intersecting lines that build shadow and depth, honoring the raw precision of pure drafting.
