About Me

The Artist Behind the Line

I'm Paschar — illustrator, toolmaker, hairstylist, father, and a quiet observer of the small details most people walk past.

I was born in Hong Kong in 1979 and moved to Melbourne, Australia at twenty-two. The move was a choice — a deliberate step toward a life built on craft, discipline, and self-direction. From the beginning, I trusted that careful work, done with full attention, would build everything else.

A Discipline Built in Two Trades

I trained as a Tool & Die Maker. I learned to see the world in microns — where a fraction of a millimetre meant the difference between a finished piece and a failed one. Precision wasn't a preference. It was a requirement.

Later I spent more than two decades as a Hairstylist, working with my hands every day. I learned to trust the way a line falls, the way texture finds its own rhythm, the way a small adjustment can transform an entire shape.

Two trades. Two disciplines. Both built on the same principle — that craft, done properly, is a form of art.

The Cross-Hatch Practice

When I picked up an iPad Pro, I began drawing in cross-hatching — a traditional engraving technique built from thousands of fine ink lines, layered one over another until depth, shadow, and form emerge from nothing but patience.

There are no shortcuts in this method. One small piece can take eight hours. A larger one can take days. Every line has to be intentional, because every line is visible. The eye reads the final image. The hand remembers each stroke that built it.

The Name

Paschar is a name that means vision — the quiet threshold between what is observed and what is brought into being. It was a chosen name, not a given one. It describes the practice better than any artist statement could.

What I Draw

I draw what I see, slowed down. Animals in moments of stillness. Architecture that has watched centuries pass. People with their inner worlds quietly visible on their faces. I'm drawn to things that endure — the calm, considered, and quietly powerful presences that hold their ground when the world moves fast.

Every Print I Make

Every print is produced to order, in premium archival materials. Paper, wood, or framed. Each piece is made specifically for you and shipped worldwide from Melbourne. Nothing is mass-produced. Nothing is held in a warehouse waiting.

What you take home is one piece, made deliberately, for one space — yours.

Made for you. Made to last.
