Water carved this. Not quickly.

The walls of a slot canyon are not cut, they are worn. Flash floods drive sand through a crack in the sandstone, and the sand does the work — millions of passes, each one taking almost nothing, until the crack becomes a corridor tall enough to lose yourself in. It is abrasion. The same principle as lapping a surface true by hand, except the tool is a river and the tolerance is measured in millennia.

That is why the walls flow. Every band you see is a layer of rock laid down as ancient dune, then re-exposed and polished by moving water. Nothing about the shape is decorative. It is a record of how the water moved.

I drew it in cross-hatch because there was no other honest way. Each band had to be followed individually, stroke by stroke, curving where the stone curves. Get one band's direction wrong and the wall stops reading as rock and starts reading as fabric. The strokes tighten in the shadowed folds and open out where the light falls, and that difference is the only thing holding the depth together.

Look for the figures on the canyon floor. They are small on purpose. Without them you have no idea whether you are looking at something the height of a room or the height of a building.

COLOUR

● The Colour Edition: Deep rust, iron red and burnt umber, with a narrow strip of open sky above. The colour sits in the stone itself rather than on top of it — the hatching still carries the form, and the pigment only tells you what the rock is made of.

PAPER

Fine Art Paper: The purest way to view the engraving detail.

Vivid Alchemy: This is not a standard print. Using advanced 12-color Giclée fine art technology, every shadow, ember, and subtle nuance of my original work is captured with a striking, undeniable depth.

The Matte Canvas: The surface is a smooth, premium matte. It drinks the light rather than reflecting it, creating a completely glare-free window into the artwork from any angle in your room.

Heirloom Weight: Crafted on substantial 200 gsm (80 lb) stock. It feels less like a simple poster and more like a true gallery exhibition piece—heavy, tactile, and built to endure.

Command Your Space: Available in a carefully selected range of sizes, allowing you to choose whether this piece whispers from a quiet corner or anchors your entire wall.

Honoring the Earth: Because my work is deeply tied to the natural world, the materials must be, too. Every piece is consciously crafted on environmentally responsible, FSC-certified paper.

Made to order. Each print is produced individually once you place your order — please allow 5–7 business days before dispatch. Shipping calculated at checkout. GST included. Returns accepted for items damaged in transit within 30 days of delivery.
