Gentle Reach — Mono — Framed
A Tribute to the First Tool We Ever Own
"The Gentle Reach" is piece No. 56, and for me, it is the most autobiographical piece in the collection. My entire life has been defined by what I can do with my hands. In the workshop, my hands had to be steady as steel to grind tools to 1/1000th precision. In the salon, they had to be soft and fluid to sculpt hair.
I created this piece to honor that duality. It isn’t just a hand; it is a symbol of connection. It captures that split second before you touch something—or someone—you love. It is the moment of reaching out.
Using the "bank note" engraving style, I mapped the landscape of the skin like a topographic map. Every cross-hatched line follows the curve of the fingers and the palm, celebrating the natural "wear and tear" that makes us human. It is mechanical precision used to render organic grace.
(The Engraver’s Edition)
The Classic Edition (Studio White): This version is stark, honest, and stripped back. By removing all colour, we focus entirely on the form and the light. It looks like a study from Da Vinci’s sketchbook but rendered with modern digital tools. It represents the clarity of intent—reaching for what matters without distraction.
