As a former toolmaker, I have deep respect for the "setup"—the hours of preparation required to make something look effortless. This dancer isn't performing; she is tuning her instrument.

I approached this piece with a focus on anatomy and light. I used my toolmaker’s understanding of structure to capture the tension in her back and the precise angle of the pointe shoe. Then, using my stylist’s eye, I softened the scene with light. I wanted to capture the texture of the leg warmers and the sheen of the leotard, creating a contrast between the hard physical work and the soft, elegant atmosphere.
