"The Gentle Touchdown" captures a fleeting moment of perfect equilibrium. As a former tool and die maker, I have always been fascinated by mechanics—how weight and force must align perfectly for a landing to be smooth. The pelican is nature’s engineer, adjusting its wings with microscopic precision to glide onto the water without a splash.

But there is softness here, too. Drawing on my years as a stylist, I paid close attention to the flow of the feathers and the liquid reflection on the water. The moody, clouded sky represents the noise of the world, while the stillness of the water below represents the inner peace we all strive to find. It is a reminder that even when the sky is grey, we can find a moment of perfect clarity.
