To me, this piece represents the purest form of friendship—the kind that exists before the world teaches us boundaries. As a father, watching my daughters grow, I am constantly reminded that love often bridges the biggest gaps.

From a technical standpoint, this piece balances softness with structure. I used my toolmaker’s eye for scale to perfectly proportion the puppy and the chick, capturing the protective tilt of the dog’s head. I then softened the entire image using my stylist’s techniques—blending the fur and feathers with a watercolour wash to show that their connection is fluid and warm, not rigid
