"The Unbroken Gaze" is piece No. 55, and she represents the side of childhood we often forget: the fierce need to protect one’s own space. As a father, I see this look when a child decides they are done listening to the noise of the world and are ready to stand their ground.

Her crossed arms aren’t just a pose; they are a shield. Her eyes aren’t angry; they are observant. She is watching, analyzing, and holding her power close to her chest.

This piece was a joy to construct because it combines my two former trades perfectly. I used my "hairstylist" eye to flow the texture of her braids, ensuring every strand felt heavy and real. Then, I used my "toolmaker" discipline to etch the heavy knit of her sweater with deep, rigid cross-hatching. It is a contrast between soft hair and hard armor.
