The Winter Spiral - Wood

A Study of Resilience and Natural Geometry

"The Winter Spiral" captures the quiet strength of nature. Instead of fighting the heavy snow and the wind, this tree bends with it, creating a perfect spiral. It reminds me that true strength isn't always about standing rigid; sometimes, it’s about being flexible enough to survive the storm.

This piece is a collision of my two worlds. The perfect, mathematical curve of the tree appeals to my toolmaker’s love for geometry—it follows the "Golden Ratio" found throughout nature. Meanwhile, the sweeping texture of the snow-laden branches was created using the same techniques I used as a stylist to create flow and movement in hair. It is a sculpture made of wind and ice.
